Life long teaching and learning

About St Agnes

St Agnes, Mt Gravatt as one of the 150 schools of the Brisbane Archdiocese, is bound to improving educational outcomes for all our students, in that they will live fulfilling productive and responsible lives through letting their light shine. This philosophy connects with the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals (2009). These goals for Australian schools are to promote equity and excellence for all young Australians to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens.

St Agnes Mini Mudderhttp://www.stagnes.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/St-Agnes-Mini-Mudder.aspxSt Agnes Mini Mudder
Last Friday's Mini Mudder event was another amazing example of the wonderful community spirit at St Agnes. Thank you to our Mini Mudder organisers who coordinated the day, Katrina Ryan, Sally Greenwood, Claire Benham and Susan White. Thank you also to all the parents who assisted with the clean up on the Sunday before, set up on the day, helping on the course, the BBQ, or cleaning up at the end. Mini Mudder is a unique event that our students are very fortunate to participate in and one that I am sure they will remember and talk about for years to come.

Year 6 Canberra Triphttp://www.stagnes.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Year-6-Canberra-Trip.aspxYear 6 Canberra Trip
We had an amazing trip to Canberra with our Year 6 students. Our school leaders were complemented on their good behaviour and knowledge, especially of Parliament and the electoral process. Our students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education.

Catholic Education Weekhttp://www.stagnes.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Catholic-Education-Week.aspxCatholic Education Week
Many members of our school have been engaged in events in the lead up to this special week. Our Year 6 students joined with the student leaders of eight other Catholic schools in our area for a very special celebration which included a faith-filled concert by Mr Knott's band, MusicFire. We should be very proud of the way these students represented St Agnes. On Friday, Mrs Zorzetto and nine students joined four hundred students from other Catholic schools at Youth Sings – a youth rally in the Cathedral of St Stephen in which they prayed and celebrated through song. It was a wonderful celebration of young people that was presided by Archbishop Coleridge.
